Skills Development Institute PDF Print E-mail

The Skills Development Institute at CGCSA seeks to raise the competency levels of people operating in the retail, wholesale and manufacturing sectors. It aims to raise industry standards by addressing the scarcity of critical skills nationally, across the supply chain

Through the institute, best practices, succession planning and career-pathing within the industry is facilitated by making use of standardised, transportable qualifications which form part of the South African national qualifications framework.

Striving to be recognised as the Education & Training Centre of Excellence for all CGCSA members, the Skills Development Institute places an important focus on development of skills for small and medium enterprises in order to equip all stakeholders with the relevant skills and knowledge that will enhance their growth and development.

This, in turn, will allow them to play a greater and more meaningful role in areas where there is a scarcity of key role players across all levels, from entry to executive level.

The Skills Development Institute is also ideally suited to project manage learnerships on behalf of members, starting from the signing of the contracts, orientation of learners to the implementation of the learnership.

For some services offered through GS1 South Africa, the Skills Development Institute has developed a groundbreaking online facility that allows learners to study anywhere, at any time. The online training provides a series of modules on essential supply chain concepts.

Not only does this training present relevant information to enable members’ compliance of GS1 principles, but it also contributes to employee development in a flexible, convenient and comfortable time and environment.
